The Film and Broadcasting Department of School of Communication Studies, Punjab University has received a good number of books on various topics from the personal collection of senior journalist and television anchor Syed Talat Hussain.
Syed Talat Hussain has donated books on topics including history, judiciary, journalism, media and communication, politics, international affairs, Urd and English literature.
Chairperson of Film and Broadcasting Department Dr Lubna Zaheer said, “We are honored and thankful to him for this generosity as there are numerous books on a variety of subjects and this act of generosity will also promote reading culture among students.”
Talat Hussain is a senior Pakistani journalist and YouTuber who hosted a prime time current affairs talk show on Geo News titled ‘Naya Pakistan with Talat Hussain’. He has contributed for Newsline, Daily Dawn, Time magazine, Daily Times, Daily Express, India Today for The Daily Express. Talat Hussain has held key positions of director, News and Current Affairs in various televisions.
He had reported on international events and even detained for his arduous aid work for the Palestinian people on Freedom Flotilla, a ship that was brutally raided by Israeli army in 2010.
Talat Hussain also tweeted and thanked the acknowledgements made by the Film and Broadcasting Department, School of Communication Studies, PU.
He said, “The department made my humble contribution look special. Thank you faculty, students. Fewer things are more satisfying than the knowledge that one’s true treasure, books, are in caring hands.”
