The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Cabinet has officially declared the 2022 UAE National Day and Commemoration Day holidays. The four-day-long public holidays will last from Dec 1st (Thursday) to Dec 3rd (Saturday).
History of UAE National Day
Every year on Dec 2nd, people across the UAE celebrate their national day. It commemorates the day that the six emirates of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, and Fujairah united to form the country of UAE in 1971. Since that time, the UAE has made significant economic progress and is currently one of the wealthiest nations in the world.
The UAE National Day celebrations are an opportunity for all Emiratis to join together and honor their nation’s accomplishments. On this day, emiratis in the UAE don traditional Emirati attire and adorn their residences and places of business with UAE flags. In Dubai, all the Emirates participate in a massive parade to demonstrate their unity. It is a day of national pride for all Emiratis.
