Currently filming parts one and two of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, 60-year-old actor Tom Cruise jumps out of a plane to thank fans for Top Gun: Maverick huge success.
Cruise addresses the audience directly at the start of the video while dangling off the side of a plane. The actor is struggling to speak enough and the sound of the flight can be heard in the distance, yet he is still enjoying himself wildly.
“Hey everyone, here we are over stunning South Africa, and we’re filming ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning” parts one and two,” He yells to a camera over the blaring ambient sound of an aircraft whirring. “I didn’t want the year to end without thanking you all for coming out to the theaters, and thank you for supporting”
The camera pans to see Christopher McQuarrie, who is directing “Dead Reckoning” and is making a return to the “Mission: Impossible” franchise. Along with Cruise and David Ellison, McQuarrie co-wrote “Top Gun: Maverick” and produced the action movie.
McQuarrie also thanks the audience.
The seventh Mission: Impossible film, Dead Reckoning: Part One, which is scheduled for release in 2023, is co-written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who finds himself anxiously seated next to Cruise and informs the movie star that they still have a sequence to shoot. McQuarrie wisely says, “Not on your life!” when Cruise asks if he’ll be riding along.
“As always, thank you for allowing us to entertain you. It truly is the honor of a lifetime. I’m running out of altitude, so I’ve got to get back to work. We’ve got to get this shot. You have a very safe and happy holiday. We’ll see you at the movies,” concluded before disappearing into thin air.
With an astounding $718 million domestically and $1.4 billion globally, “Top Gun: Maverick” continues to be the highest-grossing movie of the year.
