The Lahore High Court disposed of a habeas corpus petition after the recovery of a minor child Basit from the illegal custody of a servant of Khawar Manika, former husband of former prime minister Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi.
The court earlier had ordered the SHO City Pakpattan Sharif to recover a minor child from alleged illegal custody and produce him before the court.
On Wednesday, the police produced the minor before the court after recovering him from the custody of the respondent’s father.
The court ordered them to hand over the minor to his mother and disposed of the petition.
Earlier the petitioner’s counsel submitted that she married one Shiraz Riaz, who is a servant of Mr Manika, and gave birth to Basit, now aged three months. He alleged that two days ago her husband kicked her out of the house and snatched the suckling baby.
He alleged that Shiraz and his father were servants at the house of Mr. Manika, also a respondent in the petition. He also alleged that the respondents had been extending threats to her for initiating any legal proceedings against them.
Counsel said that respondent Manika, being an influential person, could cause harm to her and her family. He requested to order the SHO of City Pakpattan Sharif to recover her minor child from the illegal custody of the respondents and produce him before the court for handing over to her.
