LHC directs Police to recover suckling baby from Khawar Manika’s servant

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday directed the SHO City Pakpattan Sharif to recover a suckling baby Basit from the alleged illegal custody of a servant of Khawar Manika, ex-husband of former prime minister Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi.

The court was hearing a habeas corpus petition filed by Anum Rasheed for the recovery of her minor son.

Petitioner counsel submitted that she married one Shiraz Riaz, a servant of Mr. Manika, and gave birth to a male child, now aged three months.

He alleged that two days ago petitioner’s husband kicked her out of the house and snatched the suckling baby. He also alleged Shiraz and his father were servants at the home of Mr. Manika, also a respondent in the petition

He alleged that these respondents had been extending threats to her for initiating any legal proceedings against them. She said respondent Manika, being an influential person, could cause harm to her and her family.

He requested to order the SHO of City Pakpattan Sharif to recover her minor child from the illegal custody of the respondents and produce him before the court for handing over to her.
