PMLN leader and former spokesperson of the Punjab government Malik Ahmad Khan has been appointed as the Special Assistant to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Malik Ahmed will have the status of the federal minister in the cabinet.
Special Secretary to the PM Saran Saeed has issued a notification in this regard.
Malik is an Alumnus of the University of Buckingham.
Malik is known as a soft-spoken politician who hails from Kasur, he has been in the core team of the former chief minister of Punjab Shehbaz Sharif and is now elevated to the center where he will now play his role for the party to counter the Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi narrative.
Malik Ahmad is known for his political brilliance and intellectual acumen among politicians who always weigh the argument over the heated debates on Television talk shows.
He was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Punjab as a candidate of the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) (PML-Q) from Constituency PP-179 (Kasur-V) in the 2002 Pakistani general election. He received 21,728 votes and defeated an independent candidate, Naveed Hashim Rizvi.
He announced joining Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) (PML-N) in January 2012.
He was re-elected to the Provincial Assembly of Punjab as a candidate of PML-N from Constituency PP-179 (Kasur-V) in the 2013 Pakistani general election. He received 45,012 votes and defeated Malik Khurram Saleem, a candidate of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
Ahmed was re-elected to the Provincial Assembly of Punjab as a candidate of PML-N from Constituency PP-176 (Kasur-III) in the 2018 Pakistani general election.
He served as member of Special Committee No.3, Public Accounts Committee-II in the Provincial Assembly of Punjab.
