Interim pre-arrest bail granted to Punjab Assembly Secretary


LAHORE: A special court (offence in banks) on Wednesday granted interim pre-arrest bail to Punjab Assembly secretary Muhammad Khan Bhatti in a case of alleged money laundering registered by the federal investigation agency (FIA) and PML-Q MNA Moonis Elahi, son of Punjab Assembly speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi.

The court allowed the bail to Khan Bhatti till June 22 and directed him to join the investigation before the FIA.Moonis Elahi also moved a petition for pre-arrest bail before a special court (Central-I) in the money laundering case.

The court, however, returned the petition saying it lacked jurisdiction to hear the matter.Khan Bhatti is believed to be close to Speaker Elahi as the latter promoted the former to BS-22 grade last year.

He appeared before the court along with his counsel to seek the bail.Ends/
