Sardar Akbar Dogar elected as Lahore High Court Bar Association President

Sardar Akbar Ali Dogar of the Independent group was elected president of the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) for the term 2022-23.

In the LHCBA election on Saturday, in a one-on-one contest, Dogar defeated his rival Rana Asadullah Khan of Hamid Khan-led Professional group with a margin of 2605 votes.

Rana Asad is younger brother of PML-N MPA and ex-minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan.

Both the candidates earlier had held the office of LHCBA secretary.Sardar Dogar bagged 6581 while Rana Asad secured 3976 votes.

This was his second attempt of Sardar Dogar, which proved to be successful, as he had lost his previous election to Maqsood Buttar, the outgoing president.

Rai Usman Ahmad of Independent Group was elected secretary with 4455 votes against three rivals. Rana Ali Akhtar Khan was elected finance secretary with 4103 votes.

He defeated four candidates. As many as 10630 LHCBA members cast their votes out of a total of 23560 eligible voters.
