Court issues notices on Meera’s plea in Nikanama case


LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday issued notices on a petition of a local film actress Irtiza Rubab aka Meera challenging a decision of a sessions court dismissing her plaint to declare a nikahnama (marriage document) of her marriage possessed by a businessman, Attiqur Rehman, a fabricated one.

The court sought replies from the respondents including Attiq till April 13.The sessions court on Januray 31, 2022 had dismissed an appeal of the actress upholding a decision of a family court that declared the nikahname was a valid document.

The actress claimed that Rehman prepared a fake nikahnama showing her as his wife only to grab her property.

She denied having any relation with Attiq and accuses him of blackmailing her by claiming to be her husband. Meera claimed that Atiq drafted a fake marriage contract and that they were never legally married.


She submitted that she was not Atique-ur-Rehman’s wife who had made a fake marriage contract.

It is pertinent to mention that Atiq accused Meera of entering into a another marriage contract with Captain Naveed in 2013 while still being married to him.
