SAPM Shahzad Nawaz, PU VC Prof Niaz for promoting country’s arts&culture

LAHORE: Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Culture, Arts and related Communications Shahzad Nawaz has visited Punjab University and called on PU VC (Vice Chancellor) Prof Dr Niaz Ahmad Akhtar at his office.

Centre for Global and Strategic Studies Vice President Punjab Region Brig (r) Mansoor Saeed Sheikh, Executive Director CGSS Khalid Taimur Akram, Chairman PU Department of History and Pakistan Studies Prof Dr Mahboob Hussain, Regional Integration Center Director Dr Fouzia Hadi Ali and University College of Arts & Design Principal Prof Dr Sumera Jawad were also present.

The meeting focused on the ways and means to enhance cultural, educational and historical links

During the meeting, Prof Niaz Ahmad Akhtar briefed the participants about the PU’s Department of Arts & Culture and Department of History and Pakistan Studies.

He said that both the departments have several contributions in promoting the initiatives related to the art and culture of the country. 

PU library organizes introductory talk on Books

LAHORE: (Monday, December 20, 2021): Punjab University Library Book Club has conducted introductory talks on two books. The books of the month were “Allah Mian Ka Karkhana by Mohsin Khan” and “Islamic Science and the Making of European Renaissance” by George Saliba”. Chief Librarian Dr Muhammad Haroon Usmani presented the talk on the Urdu language book “Allah Main Ka Karkhana”. He beautifully narrated the story of the book and its literary notions. The introduction to the English book was presented by Punjab University Institute of Administrative Sciences Assistant Professor Dr Aamir Saeed. He conversed about the historical role of Islamic science in the transformation of Europe and presented pieces of evidence from the book. Dr Muhammad Haroon Usmani also thanked the speakers and participants for their lively contribution to the program.

PU awards six PhD degrees

LAHORE: (Tuesday, December 14, 2021): Punjab University has awarded six PhD degrees to the scholars in which Shahla Tufail D/o Muhammad Tufail in the subject of Education after approval of her thesis entitled ‘Effect of Teachers’ Professionalism on Classroom Engagement and Quality of Teaching at Primary School Level’, Nasira Munawar Lone D/o Muhammad Munawar Lone in the subject of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics  after approval of her thesis entitled ‘Biochemical and hematological Anomalies in Females of Reproductive Age’, Tariq Anwar Khan S/o Muhammad Anwar Khan in the subject of Political Science after approval of his thesis entitled ‘Issues in Federalism of Pakistan: An Analysis of Inter-Provincial Water Disputes’, Muhammad Ejaz Ul Haq S/o Muhammad Saleem Saqi in the subject of Urdu after approval of his thesis entitled ‘Iqbal and the Idealist Philosophers of Germany: Comparative Study’, Muhammad Nauman Sharif S/o Muhammad Sharif Shahid in the subject of Molecular Biology after approval of his thesis entitled ‘Post Transcriptional Gene Silencing of Helicoverpa Armigera in Potato’ and Hira Sarfraz D/o Sarfraz Khan in the subject of Physics after approval of her thesis entitled ‘Darboux Transformations, Nonlocal and Noncommutative Integrable Systems’.

PU to organize Christmas cake cutting ceremony today

LAHORE: (Monday, December 20, 2021): Punjab University will organize Christmas cake cutting ceremony on Tuesday (today) at 12 noon near Faisal Auditorium’s lawn. Provincial Minister of Punjab for Industries, Commerce and Investment Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal will be the chief guest while PU VC Prof Niaz Ahmad Akhter, Pro VC Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Mazhar and others will also participate in the event.
