Minar-e-Pakistan assault case suspects post-arrest bail


An additional district & sessions judge granted post-arrest bail to Iftikhar Ahmad a suspect in the assault of Tiktoker Ayesha Akram at the Minar-e-Pakistan after the complainant woman changed her statement.

On Friday, Ayesha appeared before court with her counsel and recorded her statement in favour of this suspect.

Ayesha said that she had lodged the FIR against the suspect on the basis of suspicion and misunderstanding and now she is satisfied about the innocence of Iftikhar through respectables of locality.  She also said that she had no objection if Iftikhar was released on bail.

After the complainant ‘s statement the judge ordered to release Iftikhar on furnishing bail bonds of Rs100,000.

Earlier, the Lorry Adda police had lodged the FIR against 400 unidentified persons for assaulting the complainant, molesting and stripping her clothes. 


Sections 354-A (assault or use of criminal force against woman and stripping her of her clothes), 382 (theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to commit the theft), 147 (rioting) and 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Pakistan Penal Code have been included in the FIR.

The CIA had arrested the suspects from Sheikhupura and Jaranwala. The suspects along with other accomplices had come to Lahore on the eve of the Independence Day. However, the key suspect, who jumped onto the moving rickshaw and kissed the girl, was still at large.
