Former chief justice of LHC Khwaja Muhammad Sharif passes away

Former chief justice of Lahore High Court Khwaja Muhammad Sharif (73) passed away on Friday after a protracted illness.

Kh Sharif served as chief justice of the LHC from April 14, 2009 to December 8, 2010.

His funeral prayer will be offered on Saturday (today) at 11am at Eid-Gah Bahawalpur Road, Miani Sahib Graveyard.

Kh Sharirf had started his legal profession in 1971 and was twice elected president of the Lahore Bar Association. He had also served as advocate general of Punjab.

Kh Sharif was among the judges who had refused to take oath under Nov-3 PCO by then president Gen (R) Pervez Musharraf. He would actively address the lawyers’ rallies during the movement for the restoration of the deposed judiciary.

Kh Sharif was also elected as a local government representative on the ticket of PML-N.

He is survived by two daughters and as many sons including advocate Khwaja Muhammad Latif.
