Justice Shujaat Ali Khan of Lahore High Court on Monday sought the ten-year record from Punjab chief secretary for giving jobs to eunuchs in various provincial departments.
Judge ordered for production of the record till November 29 stating how many eunuchs were given jobs in the last ten years and in which departments.
Judge was hearing a petition moved by a transgender Nawaz aka Ashi Jaan, who sought direction for giving jobs to eunuchs in the police.
Petitioner’s counsel submitted that the Supreme Court of Pakistan had ordered to give equal employment opportunities to the transgender in government departments but this order was so far not implemented and the departments including the police were ignoring this order. He said that it was the constitutional right of the petitioner and other eunuchs to get appointments in different departments according to their qualifications.
He requested the Punjab government to comply with the apex court order about employment of eunuchs in the government departments
