UK: ARY News writes apology to Ishaq Dar over Arshad Sharif, Sabir Shakir, Ch Ghulam’s allegations

New Vision TV, a UK-based ARY broadcaster, has apologized for airing “baseless” allegations against former Pakistani Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in two ARY News programs include powerplay and the Reporters.

According to BBC Urdu, Ishaq Dar had filed a defamation suit against AR London News ‘Reporters’ and ‘Power Play’ for corruption, abuse of power and intimidation of a woman. Had approached on intervention.

However, even before the formal proceedings began, New Vision TV admitted that the allegations aired on its programs were “baseless” and apologized.

A written apology from Ishaq Dar states that The Reporters program aired on New Vision Television on July 8, 2012. In which Chaudhry Ghulam Hussain and Sabir Shakir claimed that Ishaq Dar stole money from the government of Pakistan, and they were willing to return the stolen money on permission to return to Pakistan.

The PowerPlay program—whose host is Arshad Sharif—aired on August 8, 2019, on Newvision Television. During which the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Accountability and Home Affairs claimed that Ishaq Dar oversaw the Financial Monitoring Unit of Pakistan during his tenure. And they obstructed the work of the unit in a very inappropriate manner.
