A Lahore High Court full bench formed to decide several long-pending petitions against two ex-presidents of Pakistan Gen (r), Pervez Musharraf, Asif Zardari and former prime minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani dissolved on Monday following recusal by Justice Shujaat Ali Khan.
Chief justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti was the head of this full bench and the other two members were Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan and Justice Shujaat Ali Khan.
Justice Shujaat Ali Khan due to personal reasons declined to hear this petition
Advocate Rana Ilamuddin Ghazi had filed petitions against Musharraf and Zardari while Advocate Shahid Naseem Gondal and Advocate Allah Bakhsh Gondal approached the court against Gillani. A senior lawyer A.K Dogar who was the counsel of Mr. Ghazi in one of the petitions had also passed away last year.
These petitions were filed during the period from 2010 to 2012 and were last heard by the LHC in 2017.
Chief Justice Bhatti observed that although the petitions became infructuous due to the death of the petitioners, a new full bench would be constituted to formally dispose of these petitions.
