Physical remand extended in Minar-i-Pakistan sexual harassment case

A judicial magistrate extended for two days the physical remand of six suspects in a case of sexual harassment of a girl riding a motorcycle rickshaw during the Independence Day celebrations.

On Thursday, Lorry Adda police produced the suspects include Sheharyar, Mehran, Abid, Arsalan, Sajid, and Iftikhar

before the court and requested their further custody. The magistrate accepted this request and granted the police physical remand of the suspects for two days.

All the predators denied their involvement in the incident and claimed that they were nowhere in the videos of the incident.

The police had registered the FIR against 400 unidentified persons for assaulting the complainant, molesting, and stripping her clothes.

Sections 354-A (assault or use of criminal force against woman and stripping her of her clothes), 382 (theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to commit the theft), 147 (rioting), and 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Pakistan Penal Code have been included in the FIR.

The CIA had arrested the suspects from Sheikhupura and Jaranwala. The suspects along with other accomplices had come to Lahore on the eve of Independence Day. However, the key suspect, who jumped onto the moving rickshaw and kissed the girl, was still at large.
