ATC grants 14-day physical remand of alleged rapists of mother, daughter

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court ATC on Tuesday awarde 14-day physical remand of two suspects after their identification parade in a gang rape case involving a woman and her daughter.

The investigating officer of Nawab Town police (IO) produced the suspects Umar Farooq and Mansib before the court and informed them that the identification parade of the accused had been completed in the jail. The IO requested for custody of both the accused to complete the investigation.

The ATC court allowed the IO request.

It was alleged in the case that a woman with her daughter had reached Lahore from Vehari in a bus at night. They hailed a rickshaw at Thokar Niaz Beg bus terminal to travel to her sister’s house in Officers Colony, Sadar Cantonment Board.

The FIR driver Umar Farooq and another man namely Mansib in the vehicle instead took them to a deserted place near LDA Avenue and raped both.
