Christmas came early for Lana Del Rey’s fans as the indie pop legend announced she is releasing her ninth studio album “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd” on March 10th, 2023. Fans freaked out more when she takes the cake by sharing the title track.

The 37-year-old singer also co-wrote the album’s lead song with Mike Hermosa. On what looks to be the album cover, Del Rey has included some of the production credits and guest performances. Mike Hermosa, Jack Antonoff, Drew Erickson, Zach Dawes, and Benji are assisting Del Rey with production. Bleachers, Judah Smith, Tommy Genesis, Father John Misty, SYML, Jon Batiste, and others will all contribute to the record.

In a recent interview with HOLA TV, Del Rey teased the album’s impending release. In response, Antonoff shared a picture of Del Rey on his Instagram account, revealing that he would once more be working on the album. Antonoff first collaborated with Del Rey in 2018 for her “Norman Fucking Rockwell!” and seventh studio album, “Chemtrails Over the Country Club.”

The release of the new song gives a shoutout to Harry Nilsson’s 1974 track “Don’t Forget Me”.

Harry Nilsson has a song, his voice breaks at 2:05. Somethin’ about the way he says “Don’t forget me” makes me feel like. I just wish I had a friend like him, someone to give me five. Leanin’ in my back, whisperin’ in my ear, “Come on, baby, you can thrive,” but I can’t.

Blue Banisters

Despite not releasing an album in 2022, Lana gave her fans two albums to enjoy in 2021. Her upcoming album will be her first full-length production since the release of Blue Banisters in October 2021, which came just 5 months after the release of Chemtrails Over the Country Club. We heard Lana on Snow on the Beach from Taylor Swift’s Midnights album, which elicited a strong reaction to Lana contributing merely backing vocals. The lovely song “Watercolor Eyes,” which she originally recorded for Euphoria’s second season, also came out 10 months ago.

Chemtrails Over The Country Club

In October last year, Lana disclosed she had lost a laptop, cameras, hard drives storing music, and a manuscript for her 200-page book after her car broke into. Of course, a few fans have heard some new music. Del Rey also appealed to her fans in the now-deleted series of videos not to listen to the new music.

“I had to remotely wipe the computer that had my 200-page book for Simon & Schuster, which I didn’t have backed up on a cloud,” said Lana Del Rey, 37, who noted that she doesn’t have access to “any cloud systems.” (The musician has previously experienced several mass leaks of music throughout her career.) “And despite that, people are still able this week to remotely access my phone and leak our songs and personal photos.”

“Please don’t listen to the music if you hear it because it’s not coming out yet,” Del Rey said. “And, in terms of the book, I loved the book that I lost with all of my heart and put a lot of passion into it. And in terms of the camcorders, we shall see what happens with that.”

Del Rey received the Decade Award at Variety’s annual Hitmakers event around this time last year. In an interview with Variety, Del Rey reflected on her career from “Video Games” to “Blue Banisters.”

“I can’t say to what extent I’ve influenced anything,” Del Rey said. “But I can say all of my creative cosplay — aka notes from my real life — did widen up the sound in popular music for people to depart from a pure pop sound to something more diarist.”
